Empowering Young Voices Through Choral Education with Hong Kong Virtuoso Chorus | Co'asis Case Study
Founded in 2011, The Hong Kong Virtuoso Chorus (HKVC) is dedicated to nurturing young talents and fostering a love for choral music. Through its innovative programs, HKVC not only enhances musical skills but also enriches the lives of students by fostering teamwork, discipline, and cultural appreciation.
The Challenge
As HKVC's programme scale up, the nonprofit faced several challenges. Funding became a critical issue as existing sources diminished and the nonprofit need further funding to sustain its growth. Measuring the impact of its programme was another hurdle, particularly in conveying the value of choral education to stakeholders unfamiliar with the arts. Furthermore, the nonprofit needed to strengthen its social media to engage a broader audience and secure the support of potential donors and partners.
Our Solution
Recognizing HKVC's needs, Co'asis, a program co-developed by Time Auction and the D.H. Chen Foundation, stepped in as a vital support—matching resources and talent with small to medium-sized organizations while creating opportunities for peer learning and collaboration among social impact organizations.
Co'asis connected the nonprofit with NGO peers, corporate professionals, and grant-makers to gain insights into donor engagement, fundraising strategies, campaign management, aligning programs with corporate ESG strategies, and cultivating long-term engagement.
HKVC also exchanged corporate program pitch decks with NGO peers to learn best practices and partnered with Mind HK to co-organize a focus group exploring the relationship between choral music education and Social-Emotional Learning in Hong Kong's context to enhance impact measurement.
After consulting with digital marketing experts and NGO peers about volunteer engagement, HKVC recruited a skilled volunteer to serve as LinkedIn Strategy Advisor and Social Media Content Creator to expand its reach to potential supporters. As well as enhancing its operational capabilities by recruiting 10+ volunteers to help with concerts and fundraising campaigns.
Since joining Co'asis in 2024, HKVC has strengthened its NGO partnerships through active community engagement and enhanced its operational capabilities in program delivery, fundraising, impact measurement, and digital marketing. The nonprofit demonstrates how community engagement and access to strategic resources can significantly impact a growing nonprofit.
