Lunch with Irene, Assistant Director at Housing Authority

With over thirty years of experience in the Housing Department, Irene has been involved and now oversees all facets of public housing development work in Hong Kong.

Today our volunteers visited Irene at the Housing Authority Headquarters to learn about sustainable development, community engagement, and green building initiatives, followed by an off-site tour at Housing Authority’s recent completed estate.

This lunch raised over 30 hours for Hong Kong Community Chest, Pathfinders & Institute For Integrated Rural Development Hong Kong.

你對「做義工」嘅認識有幾多？好多人都未必熟悉除咗賣旗籌款同探訪老人院之外，仲有咩其他類型嘅義工服務。究竟坊間有邊啲做義工嘅途徑，可以搵到適合自己嘅義工機會呢？ 其實香港大大小小嘅慈善團體或非牟利機構  (NGO) 都會招募義工，而非牟利機構嘅義工服務範疇亦非常多元化，包括技能義工 (Skilled-volunteers)，善用義工嘅個人技能同專長服務社會。你可以根據唔同嘅服務種類，或者按自己嘅喜好、關心嘅社會議題選擇義工機會。以下係5種常見嘅義工服務範疇同機構簡介畀你參考： 目錄 （一）：動物福利 （二）：長者服務 （三）：青年發展 （四）：環境保護 （五）：社區服務 技能義工配對平台推介 常見嘅義工服務範疇（一）：動物福利 如果你係狗奴、貓奴，或者鍾意動物，不妨考慮做動物義工！除咗有機會親身接觸毛孩之外，仲可以利用自己嘅一技之長，支援NGO嘅日常運作。雖然根據政府公佈的數據，動物棄養嘅數量有持續下降趨勢，但因近年的移民潮影響，保護動物慈善協會表示棄養寵物個案兩年升近三倍。因此，很多關注動物福利的團體都十分需要義工加入服務行列。 義工服務性質：清潔籠舍、照顧動物、活動推廣等 香港動物基金 Hong Kong Paws Foundation 香港動物基金係一間完全依靠慈善捐款同義工支持嘅動物福祉組織，希望拯救被虐待、遺棄同走失嘅動物。 香港愛護動物協會 SPCA (HK) 香港愛護動物協會係本港首間兼顧動物福利各方面嘅慈善團體，提倡善待動物，同時打擊同防止虐待動物。 Bring Me Home (Suppaw) Bring Me Home (Suppaw) 係一個寵物社交網站，亦係香港首個無償動物領養平台。 嘉道理農場暨植物園 Kadoorie Farm & Botanic Garden 嘉道理農場暨植物園為需要支持的農民提供農業援助，幫助他們過上獨立嘅生活； 並為公眾提供休閒同教育體驗。  Team for Animals in Lantau South (TAILS) 南大嶼山動物保護隊為有需要的貓狗提供救援、醫療、絕育、養育、庇護、寄養同領養服務，包括那些 流浪、被遺棄、受傷、虐待同忽視既貓狗，大力提倡動物福利，相信教育可以創造有利於香港動物嘅變革。 立即發掘更多！ 常見嘅義工服務範疇（二）：長者服務 隨著香港長者人口上升，越來越多關注老人家嘅機構都招募緊義工，希望為老友記送上更多關懷。 義工服務性質：家居維修、網頁設計、文字翻譯等 […]

殘疾人士每日都面對唔少困難同挑戰，需要各種支援去實現佢哋嘅生活目標同夢想。除咗家居照顧、就業培訓等嘅長期直接支援，你亦可以考慮做技能義工 (skilled-volunteers) ，利用自己嘅專長同興趣回饋社會，幫助殘疾人士爭取權益同提高大眾對佢哋嘅了解，促進社會共融。 以下係一啲為殘疾人士服務 (Disability) 嘅非牟利機構 (NGO)，俾你了解一下佢哋嘅服務同理念： 路向四肢傷殘人士協會 Direction Association for the Handicapped 路向四肢傷殘人士協會由一班四肢傷殘人士組成，致力支援會員離院後重投社區生活，協助佢哋積極面對人生。佢哋嘅服務包括個案探訪、復康資源、公眾教育同政策倡議。 香港復康會 The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation 香港復康會主要為有需要人士提供復康治療、健康管理、無障礙交通、職業培訓等服務，令殘疾人士及長期病患者可以重投社會，活得尊嚴豐盛。 思拔中心 The Nesbitt Centre 思拔中心提供以英語為本的教育課程，俾學習障礙的非廣東話成年人士接受技能及工作訓練，從而融合社會。中心亦附設短期宿舍設施，協助學員達到獨立、發展自我和接觸社區嘅機會。 黑暗中對話 Dialogue In The Dark 黑暗中對話（香港）基金會透過結合娛樂及教育元素嘅體驗，以及與唔同界別合作創辦社區共融及慈善項目，推動香港嘅多元共融文化。 Let's Talk ADHD Let’s Talk ADHD是由專業及熱心人士所成立的社交網絡平台，致力提高公眾對專注力失調及過度活躍症 (ADHD) 嘅了解和注意，支援ADHD患者同家庭，啟發佢哋嘅個人潛能，並盡展所能，締造融和平等嘅機會。 以上幾間支援殘疾人士嘅機構都不時需要技能義工支持運作，如果你都想出一分力，可以考慮以下嘅義工服務： 義工服務（一）：活動護航員（Event Escorts/Support） 有啲機構不時舉辦公眾參與嘅大型活動，例如「無障行者」，以助提升公眾對殘疾人士嘅認識，了解同體驗佢哋喺社區生活所遇到嘅困難同挑戰。 由於活動會模擬殘疾人士身體不便嘅狀況，大會需要招募各類義工，包括護航員，確保活動順利舉行，同埋喺活動後進行經驗分享。做義工嘅同時又可以參與其中，非常有意義！ 【立即申請】 義工服務（二）：運動義工（Sports Volunteer） 視障人士想做運動並唔容易，因為佢哋會因自身視力狀況而遇到不便，甚至危險，所以需要義工陪同協助。有啲NGO會安排視障人士同健全人士外出運動，增強視障人士嘅身心健康，從而實踐運動共融。 如果你都鐘意相約朋友一齊做運動，可以考慮有關嘅義工活動，與視障人士一齊享受做運動嘅樂趣！ 【立即申請】 義工服務（三）：特殊教育顧問 (Special Needs […]
