What we need
  • Join us for a 20-minute briefing session to learn about our organisation and translation tasks
  • Translate 2-3 pages (or more if you have time!) from English to Traditional Chinese over 1-2 weeks
  • Respond to ad hoc requests to translate key points of newspaper articles related to housing
  • Volunteers with translation experience/ knowledge in housing policies will be ideal
Background

We periodically issue public policy papers on housing. Please help us translate these papers into traditional Chinese. We also need help with public policy research and translating media articles about housing from traditional Chinese to English.

What we have

Join us for an orientation to Habitat and our public policy activities. We will provide previous translations of similar material for reference of specialized or technical terms (such as 'subdivided flat'). We are also available via email and WhatsApp to answer any questions.

Why this is important

Habitat's vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. By advocating for adequate housing conditions we strive to influence ideas and promote a rights-based approach to housing policies and practices.

What we do

Driven by the same vision as Habitat International that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat Hong Kong is dedicated to raising awareness of the need for decent, affordable housing and harnessing resources to improve living conditions for families across the Asia-Pacific region, including mainland China since 2004. The local programme ‘Project Home Works’ also provides a hand-up to low-income families, the elderly and the disabled in Hong Kong through home repairs by local volunteers.
