What we need

• To interpret written and audio pieces in different languages, making sure to maintain their original meaning, format and tone
• Convert text and audio recordings from one language to one or more others
• Read given material and research industry-specific terminology, cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check quality of translation
• Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy
• Looking for volunteers who speak fluent Japanese and/or Korean
• BSc in Translation, Interpreting or similar field Additional certification in Linguistics is a plus

Background

Gay Games is a fully volunteer-run initiative, and is a sporting and cultural festival which promotes diversity, inclusion and tolerance. The Gay Games 2023 will be held in Hong Kong and we are recruiting now for key members of our team! GGHK expects 12,000 participants and 75,000 supporters to join in 36 different sports competitions, a 40,000 visitor opening ceremony, a week-long festival village, and an exciting Arts and Culture program in November 2023.

What we have

You will be working closely with other volunteers who also have FTE engagements. An onboarding program will be provided to ensure you understand GGHK with the support of an international team.

You will be completing translated content, allowing us to reach a broader audience.
