Project Details

What we need
  • Coordinate with coaches and the team members for practice sessions
  • Work with the Centre's team manager to create a sense of team spirit
  • Be present at team practices to supervise the team (along with the coach)
  • Communicate with various partners for the booking of practice spaces
Background

The Centre for Refugee has formed a Basketball and Football sports team made up of fun-loving and athletic refugees. This program aims to empower our clients, as well as integrate them into the larger HK community. The teams play against other sporting leagues and associations in HK, as well as corporates and schools. This role is vital to this sporting program to coordinate with external partners and manage these teams. This role also includes an element of outreach, to educate the public about the life and stories of our refugee clients.

What we have

(1) The team is already formed and trained (2) The coach is provided (3) A network of outreach partners and space provision partners

Why this is important

Our sports teams provide our clients with a sense of empowerment and the opportunity to better integrate with the HK community at large. Moreover, they have given us the opportunity to educate others about the life and stories of our refugee clients.
