Project Details

What we need
  • Listen to a 8 min briefing (on-demand recording)
  • Conduct a virtual training with ethnic minority students on ONE of the topics (Career Exploration / CV Clinic / Interview Skills / Office Etiquette) - The training timetable is flexible and you can select which training session(s) you want to deliver
  • Complete a 2-min survey after training
Background

In our daily communication and through our projects, we observe that the marginalised ethnic minorities (EM) need assistance – such as no idea about career planning, CV writing, cover note writing, interview skills, how to communicate with colleagues and external stakeholders in a professional manner. Due to the limited exposure to opportunities and techniques in internship/job hunting, it becomes a barrier for under-resourced ethnic minorities to find internships or land a job.We see that there is a gap in the employability capacity in the community.

What we have

The Zubin Foundation will provide:- a briefing video on the logistics of the project- a one-pager providing guided questions on how to deliver the session - a training timetable that volunteer trainer to select training session(s) you want to deliver

Why this is important

Through this online training project, ethnic minority youth can:a) get to know their interests and personality;b) how to create a better CV; c) prepare themselves to perform their best in interviews d) learn how to act professionally at work. With these outcomes, EM youth can be equipped with a career readiness mindset - one big leap to job hunting. Ultimately, jobs are critical to breaking the cycle of poverty in the ethnic minority community and to enhancing self-esteem, which is the core of The Zubin Foundation's mission - providing opportunities and reducing suffering.
