Background

Stand By Me is an exploratory project by Resolve to develop an active bystander training program with and for diverse youth in Hong Kong. It builds on a ground-breaking bilingual equality toolkit we released in October 2021 to empower people to be allies and active bystanders in everyday settings when it comes to race, gender and disability. Resolve now seeks to develop a stream of work focused on youth between the ages of 16-24.

What we have

As a focus group participant the youth participants would:● Receive a small gift and a certificate from RESOLVE● Receive a travel allowance for travel to and from the venue● A unique opportunity to inform the content of a program designed to stop discrimination and build allyship.

Why this is important

Resolve now has support to do a consultative scoping exercise with 30-40 youth from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds to build the foundations for a pilot program on active bystander training designed specifically for youth in Hong Kong. This particular target group on 8 April will be seeking youth who wants to be active allies in their life. The focus group will last 90 minutes and will be interactive.

What we do

Our Mission: We exist to inspire, empower and connect emerging leaders to bring about inclusive social change. Our Vision: We believe in a Hong Kong where everyone is heard and can take everyday action for their community. Our Values: Rights, Equality, Solidarity, Organization, Leadership, Voice and Empowerment. Our Community: Our people and partners come from diverse sectors and backgrounds. We are stronger together. Our Organization: In May 2017, Resolve was founded with one question in mind: in an age of increasing polarization and intolerance, how can we build more inclusive and accepting societies? We believe the answer rests with communities themselves, harnessing their own power to bring about positive social change.
