What we need
  • Join a 2-hour briefing call to learn about our organization, budgeting, financial reporting and forecasting and accounting processes
  • Do a stocktake of our current processes and identify areas for improvement in our workflows, both in terms of optimization of time through automation and governance
  • Brainstorm and develop practical recommendations for how to improve these processes and provide ongoing support to the management team to implement them
  • Give suggestions and help develop templates that the team can use for our monthly, quarterly and biannual financial reporting, forecasting, dashboards and budgets
  • Give guidance and be a sounding board on the change management required to ensure these reforms are adopted consistently and sustainably within the team
  • Provide Resolve team members in basic training on our enhanced Xero and other systems to empower them to be autonomous in building and tracking their budgets
  • We are seeking a volunteer with seasoned financial acumen and real-world experience with Xero
Background

Resolve is a S88 charity founded in 2017 to inspire, empower and connect emerging community leaders for an inclusive Hong Kong. As we move from a start-up to a more mature organization, we would like to upskill our financial management systems, processes and capabilities within the team. We are seeking a volunteer with seasoned financial acumen and real-world experience with Xero (our financial software) who can review what we are currently doing, what the gaps are and to help us to devise and execute practical solutions forward to improve these processes. The volunteer should have also had experience in guiding teams through change management and capacity-building on financial systems.

What we have

Brief orientation about Resolve and the current financial management system.

Why this is important

At Resolve, we talk about being a learning organization. We always look to ways that we can enhance the quality of our work, and this extends to our operations. Financial accuracy and responsiveness in our reporting is extremely important to us as we value accountability to our stakeholders. As we have grown our number of donors, we seek to ensure that as an organization we can manage this complexity with professionalism. We also seek to build the capacity of our team so as to reduce bottlenecks and ultimately save resources but also to empower members in the process.

What we do

Founded in 2017, Resolve is a s88 charity with a mission to amplify the impact of emerging community leaders to drive a more inclusive Hong Kong. Our name comes from our values: Rights, Equality, Solidarity, Organization, Leadership, Voice and Empowerment. Our programs include our signature annual Fellowship, a structured capacity building program that brings together social innovators from diverse walks of life, and an Opportunity Fund, offering supported seed grant funding to deliver community projects. We also deliver public education and corporate engagement campaigns on furthering inclusive practices, to reach the widest possible audience.
