Background

Every year, Resolve convenes and provides support to 20 extraordinary and diverse individuals from the community as part of our social justice fellowship program. They have strong interest and potential for social justice leadership and are committed to the theme of the year. This year, our fellowship is on the theme Closing the Learning Gap: (E)quality Education for all. Each year, the fellowship explores a different theme, but the model stays the same: a program that combines human rights education, campaigning skills and leadership development. It is a community for mutual support and learning and we offer 8 group workshops and mentoring to help the fellows build their capacity and leadership for social justice.

What we have

We have the tools, venue and experience designing and facilitating interactive events that build an intimate and supportive community for developing leadership. In the Open House event, we invite leaders, experts and previous fellowship alumni to introduce the Fellowship Program. The Event Volunteer can learn and experience how to run an interactive in-person event.

Why this is important

Education transforms lives. Access to quality education has the potential to be a great equalizer, providing a pathway to a better quality of life through increased job opportunities, improved socioeconomic status, and providing dignity, empowerment, and personal development. In Hong Kong, the inequitable distribution of educational resources and accessibility of opportunities is undermining the role education can play in supporting underprivileged students to achieve upward social mobility. In order to give interested applicants a better understanding of the Fellowship program and to answer questions, the Resolve team organizes this in-person Open House event. Participants will meet the Resolve Team and alumni of the Fellowship program, who will share with you the details of the program and their experiences. This volunteer role is essential to the facilitation of interactive activities during the events. You will also help create a warm and welcoming environment for the participants.

What we do

Founded in 2017, Resolve is a s88 charity with a mission to amplify the impact of emerging community leaders to drive a more inclusive Hong Kong. Our name comes from our values: Rights, Equality, Solidarity, Organization, Leadership, Voice and Empowerment. Our programs include our signature annual Fellowship, a structured capacity building program that brings together social innovators from diverse walks of life, and an Opportunity Fund, offering supported seed grant funding to deliver community projects. We also deliver public education and corporate engagement campaigns on furthering inclusive practices, to reach the widest possible audience.
