Background

Every year, Resolve convenes and provides support to 20 extraordinary and diverse individuals from the community as part of our social justice fellowship program. They have strong interest and potential for social justice leadership and are committed to the theme of the year. This year, our fellowship is on the theme Closing the Learning Gap: (E)quality Education for all. Each year, the fellowship explores a different theme, but the model stays the same: a program that combines human rights education, campaigning skills and leadership development. It is a community for mutual support and learning and we offer 8 group workshops and mentoring to help the fellows build their capacity and leadership for social justice. To celebrate the end of our Fellowship program, we are hosting a Closing Ceremony to commemorate the achievements and effort of our current cohort.

What we have

We have the tools, venue and experience designing and facilitating interactive events that build an intimate and supportive community for developing leadership. The Event Volunteer can learn and experience how to run an interactive celebration in-person event.

Why this is important

Education transforms lives. Access to quality education has the potential to be a great equalizer, providing a pathway to a better quality of life through increased job opportunities, improved socioeconomic status, and providing dignity, empowerment, and personal development. In Hong Kong, the inequitable distribution of educational resources and accessibility of opportunities is undermining the role education can play in supporting underprivileged students to achieve upward social mobility. This year, we are excited to announce that the event is also funded by Swire TrustTomorrow, which engages the general public who are interested in exploring changes in education in Hong Kong. Moreover, there will be a photo exhibition by our 2023 Fellows that they feel reflects their social justice journey and work within the area of (E)quality Education.Participants will meet the Resolve team, current Fellows, and other changemakers in the city, who will share with you the details of the program and their experiences. This volunteer role is essential to the successful execution of our wrap up event. You will also help create a warm and welcoming environment for the attendees.

What we do

Our Mission: We exist to inspire, empower and connect emerging leaders to bring about inclusive social change. Our Vision: We believe in a Hong Kong where everyone is heard and can take everyday action for their community. Our Values: Rights, Equality, Solidarity, Organization, Leadership, Voice and Empowerment. Our Community: Our people and partners come from diverse sectors and backgrounds. We are stronger together. Our Organization: In May 2017, Resolve was founded with one question in mind: in an age of increasing polarization and intolerance, how can we build more inclusive and accepting societies? We believe the answer rests with communities themselves, harnessing their own power to bring about positive social change.
