  • Act as a facilitator in 2 marketing workshops and/or 1 pitching workshop (3 hours each) to provide guidance to NGO leaders in a small group
  • Attend another 30-minute briefing Zoom call to understand the structure, details, expectations and tools for the upcoming events
  • Observe the NGO's performance on the Exhibition Day after completing the workshops, debrief with the NGO leaders to share feedback in the post-exhibition event at the end of the day
  • (Optional) 1-2 Mentorship sessions per month with NGOs during the 4-month period to check in on progress and ensure they are on the right track
Background

Small NGOs often face limitations in promoting their services due to restricted resources and prioritizing service provision over promotion. This affects fundraising and collaboration opportunities. This campaign aims to empower small NGOs in marketing, attracting support from mainstream NGOs and the business sector, enhancing their capacity and reach. By the end of this campaign, we will organize an Exhibition Day for the NGOs to showcase what they have learnt.

What we have

Among the 510+ Agency Members of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS), over 300 are self-financed social service agencies, representing more than two-thirds of the total membership. Apart from the briefing Zoom call at the beginning, there are plenty of NGOs that can provide great insights in advance. The workshop leaders will provide the content and tools needed for the workshop activities.

Why this is important

Small NGOs, lacking stable government funding, heavily depend on funding support and partnerships to sustain their operations. HKCSS is committed to advancing social service development in Hong Kong, recognizing the remarkable contributions of non-subsidized organizations operating under limited resources. To empower every aspiring social service provider, HKCSS actively seeks partnerships across sectors and encourages passionate individuals to participate, jointly advancing this impactful work.

What we do

HKCSS "Project Star" focuses on Agency Members of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) that do not receive subvention from the government (self-financed NGOs). Its primary objective is to enhance the service management, operational efficiency, and accountability of these agencies, while also bolstering their capacity for resource development and elevating the level of professional services. The ultimate goal is to ensure the healthy and sustainable development of these agencies.
