Teach and Lead STEM workshop in Local Primary Schools in Sep/Oct
We aimed to promote STEM education in Jul-Dec 2023 through 3 stages - Mobile classroom outings, School workshops and SOLAB project to 10 local primary school students and their parents in Hong Kong. The program involves recruiting STEM Tutor volunteers who will teach and lead STEM workshops in primary schools during September and October 2023, each workshop will have 18 primary school students.By engaging with students at a young age, the program aims to gain insights into the application of renewable energy and green technology, raising their awareness of environmental protection.
To help volunteers get started, the project provides various resources. Firstly, volunteers will participate in a 2-hour online project briefing and training session in early September. This session will equip volunteers with the Workshop content, necessary knowledge and skills to effectively teach and lead the STEM workshops. Additionally, HKCIN will provide the content, PowerPoint and STEM materials for the STEM workshops, ensuring that volunteers have access to comprehensive and relevant resources to facilitate engaging and interactive learning experiences for the students.
This project contributes to HKCIN's goals of advancing STEM education in Hong Kong. By organizing STEM workshops in local primary schools, the project helps to bridge the gap in STEM education and expose students to hands-on learning experiences in these subjects. By actively involving volunteers who possess STEM knowledge and can communicate in Cantonese, the project ensures that the workshops are conducted in a culturally and linguistically accessible manner, maximizing the impact on the students' learning outcomes. Ultimately, the project aims to inspire and motivate students to pursue further studies and careers in STEM fields, supporting HKCIN's overarching mission of promoting STEM education and fostering a generation of young innovators and problem solvers.
