What we need
  • Join us for a 30 minute briefing session to learn about our organisation and the Housing Series webinars
  • Pre-read our brand guide and glossary, to learn about our tone of voice
  • Join us for a 15 minute call to complete a tech run through on Zoom 1-2 weeks before the webinar
  • Join Zoom 30 minutes before the webinar starts and provide simultaneous interpretation (English to Chinese) for 1 hour
  • Volunteers with some knowledge on climate change, affordable housing and green living will be ideal! (or just join to learn together!)
  • The webinar will take place on 12 Jan 2023
Background

In the fourth webinar in our Housing Series, we will be discussing climate smart solutions for affordable housing and green living. We have invited two guest speakers - Nabeel Siddiqui and Tony Ip and the conversation will be moderated Rebecca Ochong. We are looking for a simultaneous interpreter to help us to translate this conversation from English to Chinese during the event to help us reach a wider audience.

What we have

Brand guide, glossary and script will be provided beforehand to help with interpretation. Glossary will include common vocabularies and phrases that we use in Habitat, as well as a list of words relating to climate change and housing. The script will include an introduction to the event and speakers, the questions that will be asked during the discussion and the wrap-up conclusion to allow the interpret to prepare before the event.

Why this is important

The Habitat Housing Series brings people together to raise awareness of housing issues in Hong Kong and explore inclusive and innovative solutions. You will hear from local and international expert speakers, grassroots organisations and members of the community with lived experiences. We hope people can join our interactive discussions and learn how we can build homes, communities and hope together.

What we do

Driven by the same vision as Habitat International that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat Hong Kong is dedicated to raising awareness of the need for decent, affordable housing and harnessing resources to improve living conditions for families across the Asia-Pacific region, including mainland China since 2004. The local programme ‘Project Home Works’ also provides a hand-up to low-income families, the elderly and the disabled in Hong Kong through home repairs by local volunteers.
