What we need

• To approach construction workers near construction sites to conduct surveys regarding the latest Guidance on Prevention of Heat Stroke at Work
• To guide or aid construction workers in completing the survey, providing assistance or explanations if needed
• This task requires conducting surveys outdoors during very hot days, particularly at noon. Please ensure that you are in good physical condition and maintain good health.

• You can choose to join any days within 14-17 Aug

Background

As climate change continues to affect everyone, especially outdoor workers who are under increased stress, the Hong Kong government launched the Guidance on Prevention of Heat Stroke at Work. However, there have been voices in society claiming that the guidelines are not particularly helpful. Therefore, we aim to conduct this survey with outdoor workers, especially those at construction sites and street cleaners (we completed the street cleaner part already), to investigate whether the anti-heat stress measures have actually been implemented and whether they are effectively assisting those workers.

What we have

Transportation subsidies and an operational manual to aid volunteers in beginning their work with ease and understanding.

Why this is important

綠色和平希望通過推動更全面的勞工保障，以舒緩氣候不公。建造業和清潔工友為香港基建辛勞付出，面對的卻是嚴峻健康風險、甚至死亡威脅。雖然勞工處今年五月實行更新版的《預防工作時中暑指引》，但新《指引》沒有足夠的法律效力，所列的措施亦未有針對工友面對的實質情況。我們希望通過這次研究指出可以在各方面推動《指引》更針對工友實質困境，確保工友得到有效包障，減低可能承受的氣候風險。
