Background

Green Hour has just completed its first cleanup of 2024. We had a significant number of volunteers join and we collected a huge amount of trash (a whopping 625kg!)The main issue we face, as a small organisation, is sometimes lacking volunteers who can lead participants throughout the event. It is for this reason we are looking for individuals who are willing to take on the role of leading small groups during events as well as help conduct outreach prior to the event.

What we have

On confirmation of becoming one of our volunteer team, we will inform you of what your individual roles are, how the event will break down and what is required from each of you. We will hold another short briefing session before the cleanup to make sure volunteers know exactly how many people are joining.

Why this is important

Green Hour aims to promote sustainable living in as many ways as possible. One of the best methods is to provide a space where people can first-hand experience the issues facing our city. This includes beach cleanups on a monthly basis, plogging events as well as our weekly 'Bun Run'. Having more hands to provide support is something that we greatly need as we plan to expand and reach out to more people.

What we do

Established in 2018, Green Hour aims to promote a sustainable lifestyle through education, events and campaigning. Having already organised multiple beach cleanups, 'plogs' as well as Hong Kong's first 'Plastic Attack', Green Hour has begun establishing itself in the area. More recently, Green hour has started its Bun Run initiative, rescuing surplus food items from being sent to landfill and distributing them, as well as other essentials, to those in need in the community. To date, Green Hour supports roughly 100 individuals on a weekly basis, with plans to expand over the coming months.
