Project Details

What we need
  • Implement an internal communications plan in conjunction with PR & Communications team and People’s team
  • Ensure organisational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to GGHK’s volunteers
  • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as monthly newsletters or regular email bulletins. You may also be required to work on the layout of content
  • Keep volunteers abreast of progress and answer their questions through the use of social media or other platforms to communicate with volunteers internally
  • Assist in developing messages or scripts for management team presentation to volunteers in written or spoken form
Background

Gay Games is a sporting, arts and cultural festival which promotes diversity, inclusion and acceptance. Gay Games 11 (GG11) will be a co-hosted event, and it will be the first time in the 40-year history of Gay Games that the event will be co-hosted by two cities: Hong Kong and Guadalajara, Mexico. GG11 will also be the first time that the event will be held in Asia, and in Latin America as well.

Why this is important

The Internal Communications Manager plays a vital role to ensure the 200+ strong team of volunteers of GGHK are kept informed and motivated. They do this by communicating GGHK’s organisational messages through several channels, such as regular newsletters, email bulletins, blogs, social media and townhall events.The Internal Communications Manager will work closely with the People’s team and PR & Communications team in formulating our organisational messages, including responses to PR crisis management.

What we do

Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2023’s (GGHK) unique combination of sport, arts, culture, fun and community brings together diverse groups of people to experience moments of joy. It will create unity and positive attitudes that will last a lifetime in Hong Kong, Asia and beyond under our tagline “Unity In Diversity”. GGHK will take place on 3-11 November 2023, first time in Asia. We are expecting 12,000 participants, 75,000 spectators and 3,000 volunteers from 100 countries. There are 36 sporting events planned including new events Dragon Boat Racing, Dodgeball, eSports, and Trail Running, Opening & Closing Ceremonies, Festival Village, and Arts & Culture events with daily performances, a Gala Concert, LGBTQ+ art exhibitions, and a variety of events to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Gay Games. Everyone is welcome to participate regardless of ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, or background.
