Project Details

What we need
  • Lead the planning and coordination of Health & Safety for the Gay Games program (eg. general safety, medical and first aid support)
  • Lead the planning and coordination of COVID-19 requirements for events (eg. minimise infection risks, adhere to government regulations)
  • Lead the GGHK response to to Health & Safety incidents in coordination with event organisers, venues and relevant authorities
  • Identify potential Health & Safety risks and coordinate their management pre, during and post Gay Game 2023
  • Lead a smal team of passionate volunteers, work with production teams, venues and suppliers to design and deliver required Health & Safety controls at events
Background

Gay Games is a sporting, arts and cultural festival which promotes diversity, inclusion and acceptance. Gay Games 11 (GG11) will be a co-hosted event, and it will be the first time in the 40-year history of Gay Games that the event will be co-hosted by two cities: Hong Kong and Guadalajara, Mexico. GG11 will also be the first time that the event will be held in Asia, and in Latin America as well.

Onboarding programme which support you to understand more about GGHK to help you be effective on your role. A small team of volunteers will support your role.

Why this is important

The Director of Health & Safety plays a vital role to develop and coordinat the health, safety and medical support across the Gay Games program including sporting, cultural and entertainment events.

What we do

Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2023’s (GGHK) unique combination of sport, arts, culture, fun and community brings together diverse groups of people to experience moments of joy. It will create unity and positive attitudes that will last a lifetime in Hong Kong, Asia and beyond under our tagline “Unity In Diversity”. GGHK will take place on 3-11 November 2023, first time in Asia. We are expecting 12,000 participants, 75,000 spectators and 3,000 volunteers from 100 countries. There are 36 sporting events planned including new events Dragon Boat Racing, Dodgeball, eSports, and Trail Running, Opening & Closing Ceremonies, Festival Village, and Arts & Culture events with daily performances, a Gala Concert, LGBTQ+ art exhibitions, and a variety of events to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Gay Games. Everyone is welcome to participate regardless of ethnicity, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability, or background.
