What we need

• Work closely with Feeding HK Staff and volunteers to ensure that all food is appropriately received, inspected, sorted, packed, stored and distributed;
• Be an FHK ambassador and help raise awareness of our work through talking to volunteers and visitors;
• Set up venue and prepare materials for evening activities, and ensure tidiness and hygiene standards are maintained;
• Answer calls from volunteers or food donors and handle enquiries;
• Support with other ad-hoc duties as required.
• Offer your support on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6pm - 10pm (Flexible)

Background

In this Volunteering Session, you are cordially invited to help us rescue fresh bread that would otherwise be thrown away, and bring it to the Feeding HK food bank in Yau Tong. We will help to deliver the rescued bread to the people in need across Hong Kong.Feeding Hong Kong is a local registered charity with a mission to reduce the amount of quality food sent to our city’s landfills and fight hunger in Hong Kong. We do this through delivering a B2B logistics service, which links food companies with surplus stock, to charities directly feeding those in need. Last year, through our partnerships with the food industry, we saved 578 tonnes of food from landfill. Instead, this was redistributed to 160 charity partners and supported 2.8 million meals for people in need.

This is Feeding HK's iconic event to help rescue surplus bread to feed needy people. With your help, we can bring hope to the underprivileged and fight against hunger while preventing food waste.
