Help us to visually document our event supporting wellbeing for children and families with disabilities and/or special needs
Children and adults with disabilities or special needs (PWD/SEN) suffer higher incidence of physical and mental health concerns. At the best of times, they experience social exclusion, lack of education or employment opportunities, and limited access to wellbeing services. To support this community, YAMA Foundation’s bi-annual Accessible Wellbeing Conference (AW2022) aims to promote inclusive recreation as a means of enhancing physical, emotional, and social wellbeing for PWD/SEN and people with mobility challenges, and to raise awareness of the issues and solutions affecting quality of life for these communities.•• Highlights video from 2020 event: https://youtu.be/Et7kiGY8750

YAMA Foundation was created to empower our city’s most vulnerable to fully participate in all aspects of life. As Hong Kong continues to struggle through challenging and uncertain times, the need to broaden our reach and expand support for marginalised communities has never been greater.AW2022 is YAMA’s response to this community in desperate need. YAMA Foundation believes that all people have the fundamental right to feel good in their bodies, peaceful in their minds, live colourful lives, and be part of a caring community -- no matter their background or ability. As a registered charity, YAMA Foundation removes barriers to wellbeing through yoga, art, and meditation therapy programmes that are accessible, rehabilitative, inclusive, and trauma-informed. Since 2016, we have been providing accessible wellbeing services to our city’s most vulnerable populations. Our work spans three core service areas: (1) people with disabilities, special needs (PWD/SEN) and/or chronic illness; (2) people living in poverty; and (3) people living with mental health issues. ● Video introduction - https://youtu.be/ik7SZgyKAe4
