Peer Support Group Host (LGBTQ+)
Host and facilitate adult peer support groups in English or Cantonese for the LGBTQ+ community on mental health or grief

What we need
- Join a 15-minute call to hear more about our mission and what we do
- Host and lead a peer support group (usually 8 participants) once per month (weekday evenings) for Hong Kong's LGBTQ+ community on mental health or loss and grief or a topic of your choice
- Facilitate open conversation between adult LGBTQ+ participants who are experiencing similar challenges with their mental health or grief
- Volunteers must be from the LGBTQ+ community. No experience needed - we will provide training!
Background
We are launching peer support meetings for the LGBTQ+ community in Hong Kong for grief and mental health (or any other relevant topic). We need support group hosts from the LGBTQ+ community. We will provide all necessary training and shadowing to ensure that hosts feel comfortable and confident.
What we have
Shadowing and training, management and scheduling of support group, continuous support from our team to help you to develop your skills as a host.
Why this is important
Expanding our meetings will allow us to reach more people in Hong Kong and make sure that no one feels alone, no matter what they are going through.

In particular, providing free advice, information, and peer group support sessions. Peer-to-peer support is a format that The New Normal Charity has proudly adopted from inception in May 2018. We feel that the best form of therapy is to talk to others with similar life experiences. We have been helping people through life’s difficult moments for over three years now- facilitating conversations between individuals who find themselves in very similar positions. Our mission is to make sure no one feels alone no matter what they are going through.
