Background

The Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival “HKICF” is an engaging and interactive music educational platform that aims to serve all primary and secondary school choirs in Hong Kong. The annual choral festival usually takes place in January, February or March, and its main activities include choral competitions conducted in the form of masterclasses, workshops for music educators, and concerts.

What we have

**A Volunteer Briefing will be hosted on 28 Jan 2024 (Sun) 10 am-12noon @ TWGHs Kitty Woo Music and Art Development Centre (Kidenza)(2/F Tung Chiu Commercial Centre, 193 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong** We highly recommend joining as this is when we share the details of the logistics and operation.

Why this is important

The goal of HKICF is to let students in Hong Kong experience the full flavours of an international choral festival without having to travel. Therefore we take as many applying schools are possible to maximise accessibility of music exchange. With 200+ schools participating in our events this year across 10+ calendar days in February and March, we could provide meaningful eduction experiences to students only if we have a strong army of supporters and volunteers. Join us in promoting choral music and music education to the youth of the city!

What we do

At the Hong Kong Virtuoso Chorus (HKVC), we believe every voice is a unique musical instrument waiting to be heard. However, we understand that not all voices have equal opportunities in Hong Kong. Established in January 2011, the HKVC is a S.88 tax-exempted charitable organization with a mission to promote choral music education and provide opportunities for all young singers in the city. We are committed to breaking down barriers and ensuring that quality choral music is accessible to everyone. To achieve our goal, we have developed a range of innovative programs, serving student choristers and teachers in Hong Kong. One of our proudest achievements is the Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival (HKICF), our flagship program. Over the years, it has become a highly-anticipated event in Hong Kong's music and education scene. Serving 200 schools and engaging with over 20,000 participants in the upcoming year, HKICF truly showcases the talent and dedication that exists within our city. Join us in our mission to empower the voices of Hong Kong and nurture the choral leaders of tomorrow. Together, we can harmonize the future of choral music in our city.
