Background

In May 2021 we opened our first permanent secondhand store, The Redress Closet, selling curated secondhand clothing and accessories to support Redress’ mission to reduce the city’s clothing waste. This position is a great opportunity for a motivated individual looking for hands-on work experience in the sustainability, sustainable fashion, marketing, education and/or charity/NGO sectors. You will be supporting the Circular Fashion Programme team and our shop staff at our secondhand clothing store, The Redress Closet, on planning and running our social media accounts. Through this social media account we are not only looking to grow secondhand clothing and accessories sales, but to engage with the wider community, raise awareness and educate about the merits of secondhand shopping.

What we have

We will provide the volunteer with access to our IG @TheRedressCloset, information about past marketing/social media campaign, as well as themes, suggestions of posts and necessary data

Why this is important

Not only are we looking to grow secondhand clothing and accessories sales through this social media account, but also to engage with the wider community, raise awareness and educate about the merits of secondhand shopping to reduce fashion's social and environmental impact.

What we do

Redress is an environmental charity with a mission to prevent and transform textile waste to catalyse a circular economy and reduce fashion's water, chemical and carbon footprints. Our programmes work to change mindsets and practices to stop the creation of textile waste now and in the future, as well as creating systems and partnerships that generate and showcase value in existing waste. Through our work with designers, industry and consumers, Redress actively supports and promotes the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 12 - Sustainable Consumption and Production
