What we need

• Engage with customers: handling retail sales, answering queries about the social enterprise
• Organise and cleaning bookshelves
• Track daily sales through spreadsheet
• Organise and sort donations of books
• Our book store needs support daily, you can choose any dates/ times, our shift times are 12:00nn - 3:00pm/ 3:00pm - 6:00pm, kindly state your availability when applying
• Training will be offered - volunteers without any experience are welcomed!

Background

ReBooked’s retail bookstore in Central (address: 9 Mee Lun Street) is open from 12 to 6pm daily, and relies on the support of volunteers to man the store. Daily store operations entail the following: engaging with customers (checking out sales, assisting customers, etc.), limited bookkeeping, accepting and storing book donations from customers and organizing books on the shelves.English speaking ability is needed, Cantonese is a plus but not mandatory. Shifts are three hours each (12-3pm or 3-6pm). Schedules for volunteers are allocated at the beginning of the month. If you are unable to make a shift, please inform us at least 48 hours in advance.

What we have

Prior to your first shift, we will provide training. We also provide you with an allowance for transportation and snacks.

Why this is important

ReBooked aims to be more than just a bookstore, ReBooked aims to foster a community of book-lovers, eco-friendly shoppers and families. Through our hardworking and friendly volunteers, ReBooked is able to reach this goal. Volunteers enable us to redistribute books to Hong Kong’s families on a daily basis, as well as collect books directly from those who no longer need them. As a ReBooked volunteer, not only will you be engaging with our ReBooked community, but furthering the mission of a circular economy.
