Background

As our volunteer presenter, you will conduct and present training workshops on both "Know Your Rights" and "Employment Agencies."Know Your Rights" is the first module of the HELPing Hands programme, a series of training classes HELP provides for free for migrant domestic workers in Hong Kong. This training equips migrant domestic workers with a better understanding of their rights and responsibilities in Hong Kong and will cover the basics i.e. the employment contract, rest days, wages, and food allowance. In the Employment Agencies module, participants will learn about domestic workers' rights and responsibilities with respect to employment agency fees and services, including what to look for when using an employment agency, agency fees and who should pay them, services included in agency fees, tips for dealing with employment agencies, and where and how to complain about an employment agency.

What we have

Why this is important

Through this project, we will engage migrant domestic workers to equip them with the necessary knowledge concerning their rights and responsibilities. Through providing information and training on the basic rights of domestic workers, it is hoped that they will be able to make informed decisions. This is part of HELP’s effort to ensure that migrant workers are empowered to access justice and fair and equal treatment.
