What we need

• Help with guiding volunteers to the cleanup starting point
• Taking photos and videos during the event
• Supporting groups of volunteers and making sure people know where to go/what to do
• Assist with event rounding up

Background

Green Hour organises regular beach and trail cleanups across the city. Throughout the past 12 months, we have collected over 5,000kg from several cleanup events. The main issue we face, as a small organisation, is sometimes lacking volunteers who are confident in guiding and supporting participants throughout the event. It is for this reason we are looking for individuals who are willing to take on the role of supporting small groups during events as well as help conduct outreach prior to the event.

What we have

On confirmation of becoming one of our volunteer team and which date you are able to commit to, we will inform you of what your individual roles are, how the event will break down and what is required from each of you. We will hold another short briefing session before the cleanup to make sure volunteers know exactly how many people are joining.

Why this is important

Green Hour aims to promote sustainable living in as many ways as possible. One of the best methods is to provide a space where people can first-hand experience the issues facing our city. This includes beach cleanups on a monthly basis, plogging events as well as our weekly 'Bun Run'. Having more hands to provide support is something that we greatly need as we plan to expand and reach out to more people.
