What we need

• Join calls to learn about our effective giving initiative and discuss the content development strategy
• Work with content team manager to develop content strategy and framework
• Conduct localization research for website article/ blog post based on existing content from other similar projects
• Work with our internal team to produce, review and publish 1 article/ blog post (500 to 1000 words) every 1 to 2 weeks
• Provide 4 to 6 articles or blog posts over roughly 2 months for scheduled publishing on our website, social media channels, and newsletter
• Honorarium of HK$500 will be provided

Background

Effective Giving Hong Kong (EGHK) is a new initiative of Effective Altruism Hong Kong. We aim to provide a localized version of a successful donation platform, offering educational material and personalized advice to help people in Hong Kong maximize the impact with their charitable donations. You will be joining a small volunteer team to conduct localization research and write donation advice for our website and social media.Based on reference articles from similar projects, such as, 'A bad reason to donate' by Effektiv Spenden (Germany) https://effektiv-spenden.org/blog/verwaltungskosten-ein-schlechter-grund-zu-spenden/, the content team will develop articles /blog posts related to effective donations for public educational purposes. We will conduct localization research to inform the copywriting work on various topics, such as: donation advice, global poverty, global health, climate change, animal welfare, and education.We aim to produce 1 localized articles with 500 to 1000 words every 1 to 2 weeks, and a total of 4 to 6 articles in the period of around 2 months.

At the end of the project, there may be an opportunity to have 1-1/ small group meetings with local and global experts in Effective Altruism to discuss how you can maximize your impact. Why this is important

When money is directed with rigor, evidence, and ambition towards the world's pressing and neglected problems, there is potential to generate 100x the impact compared to an average charity. Developing localized content is crucial to connect local donors to support effective charities impartially and ambitiously, ultimately supporting more people to do good better.
