What we need
  • Share your knowledge and experience with students to help facilitate their own career options planning
  • Deliver structured and interactive workshops at school campuses, focus on encouraging students to share their ideas.
  • Workshops (90-mins) can be hosted on weekdays after school (from ~4:00pm), or possibly Saturdays to be mutually agreed between teachers and mentors
  • Accompany students on Company Visit Day and enhance their exposure through sharing your own corporate and business experience
  • Mentors are paired up for each group of 4-6 secondary students with the support from a school teacher
  • Commitment is from 10 Feb to 17 May, inclusive of training and onsite school sessions
Background

“The Foundry” is the flagship programme of Dream2Story (www.dream2story.org). It is a 4-month experiential programme designed to empower youths from low-income families in Hong Kong to (re-)gain a sense of their agency over their own post-school life. Through a series of workshops, company visits and mentorship sessions, students work in teams to turn their own passions/interests into a business plan to be pitched against others in a competition setting. They may also build valuable relationships with their team mentors who might continue to provide support beyond the programme.

What we have

We focus on our corporate mentors. We will support you through...1) Briefing and session walkthrough 2) Professional mentor training to develop soft skills and increase student mental health awareness, enhancing preparedness for student interactions 3) Sharing by past teachers and D2S:mentors. They will be provided after office hours ahead of onsite school programme to ensure mentors feel confident about facilitating students through the business planning process. 4) Unique Mentor Community to foster experience sharing and mutual support

Why this is important

We aim to promote social mobility and ensure young people can find a path that fully realises their own talents, no matter their circumstances. By being a part of this programme, you will help secondary students feel less anxiety and aloneness in navigating their path forward, and gain the self confidence and exposure needed to become open to opportunities for upward mobility.

What we do

Dream2Story (D2S) is a charity and a social incubator. We focus on talented youngsters (between ages of 16 and 25) whose talent and/or social background do not lend themselves to the traditional social ladder via tertiary education. We believe alternative pathways already exist which enable these young people to find and navigate their way towards their own definition of success. But information about these pathways is not readily available to or easily found by these youngsters. D2S aims to promote social mobility by being the map maker and navigator of these alternative pathways. For some youngsters, we will adopt a more active role as connectors to bring relevant parties together or even as mentors to some of them.
