Help us to conduct research on crafts artisan and compose a bilingual artisan anthology
Based on interviews and previous research done by Crafts on Peel, in tangent with our research on the making process of each craft and the artisan’s own story, the Artisan Anthology highlights the craftsmanship, knowledge and philosophy that each artisan embodies. Currently, we have selected 15 groups of artisans to document their craft journey and how the craftwork was born. The Artisan Anthology includes a summary of the craftwork, story of the traditional craft related to the work, making process and bio. Many of these craftsmen and artisans have collaborated with us before, and we have some basic background information about them. Research writers are invited to conduct additional research, compile existing research and write Artisan Anthology about the artisans or groups that we have selected.
Guidelines to construct the Artisan Anthology will be provided. Background information such as oral history, making process, videos and photos will be provided. You are encouraged to discover the wonders of these craft techniques through research online and via reliable resources such as our craft library in our venue. Previous Artisan Anthology can also be provided for reference.
Our goal is to revive, reinterpret and perpetuate traditional crafts with modern artistic context. We foster knowledge exchange and encourage collaborations amongst generations of craftsmen and the creative industry. To preserve the knowledge of artisanry and craftsmanship, recording, documenting and compiling the precious information as an archive is of great importance.
