Project Details

What we need
  • Review fundraising proposals to known funding opportunities (e.g. Operation Santa Claus, Project Fuel 2.0)
  • Suggest new potential funders for hearing disabilities (if any)
Background

As a self-helped organization, we need steady financial aids to maintain the continuous development of CODA support services. We are looking for people with the same value and passion to provide support. Raise public awareness of the needs of CODA and deaf families to increase support and resources. With sufficient resources, CODA can explore its own advantages and give full play to its talents, and enhance self-confidence.

What we have

We can arrange meeting with both volunteers and CODA families to understand the real needs of the community

Why this is important

(1) We can continue to provide services to those in need. (2) Help our organization inspire and nurture CODA. (3) Provide opportunities for under-resourced CODA and deaf families.

What we do

CODA Hong Kong (Children of Deaf Adults) is the first of its kind in Asia. Established in 2013, its objectives are to help CODAs of Hong Kong understand and acknowledge their special identity as bilingual and bicultural, learn and develop potential skills, build a self-help community, and adopt positive outlooks of life. CODAs are the second generation of deaf people. We are therefore concerned about government policies of deaf welfare and sign language. Through education, advocacy, publication and academic research, we promote knowledge of sign language and deaf culture to the public and various stakeholders. We believe in building a society in which the deaf and the hearing integrate harmoniously.
