What we do

Team for Animals in Lantau South (TAILS) is a volunteer-run animal welfare society based in South Lantau that provides rescue, medical care, de-sexing, nurture, shelter, and foster and rehoming services to cats and dogs in need, including those who are stray, abandoned, injured, abused and neglected. We strongly advocate animal welfare and believe in education to create change that benefits animals across Hong Kong. Since December 2018, we have supported over 200 animals on Lantau Island and beyond. We help to rescue dogs and cats who are reported injured, ill, or abused, and provide a safe place for animals surrendered by their owners. Every animal we take in receives a health check, medical care, annual vaccinations, flea & tick prevention, worm treatment, microchip, rabies shot, de-sexing surgery and heartworm prevention. We place our rescue animals with experienced foster families who give short-term care until they can be adopted into nurturing, safe, and stable forever homes. Further, we support stray and loosely owned animals with medical care and de-sexing to reduce unnecessary suffering and ensure public hygiene.
