About Bruce

Bruce works as a philanthropic grantmaker while started out as a financial analyst on Wall Street. As a Senior Charities Manager at The Hong Kong Jockey Club, he develops and vets charitable grants in the area of children and youth development, and works with partners to amplify the Trust’s positive impact on the community.

He was previously a founding Director of Operations at Character Lab, a New York-based NGO that advances scientific insights that help kids thrive. He had also been a strategy consultant for Dalberg Global Development Advisors. His specialty was in serving mission-oriented enterprises, including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the World Bank, on social and economic issues.

He is currently advising Bloom KKCA Academy, a project-based school founded by educators, entrepreneurs and engineers, and an expert group member of CoolThink@JC, an initiative to mainstream computational thinking in Hong Kong and beyond.

Bruce holds an MPA in International Development from Harvard Kennedy School and a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT. He is a graduate of Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong and of Shau Kei Wan Government Secondary School.

    For all scheduled mentoring sessions, we have a "one strike" ban policy for no-show bookings without informing the other party. Cancelling within 24 hours is also counted as no-show. 

    1st strike: 1-month suspension 
    2nd strike: 3-month suspension
    3rd strike: Banned

Requirements

10 volunteer hours must be completed during 1 May 2021 to 13 Jan 2022.
