With a solid foundation in AI, materials science, mathematics, and education, I offer strategic guidance and technical insights into integrating AI within your educational or nonprofit initiatives.
My academic journey includes dual degrees from Rice University, advanced research at MIT, where I focused on machine learning applications for new materials and novel AI architectures, and working with experts on AI and learning sciences at Harvard Graduate School of Education.
In this call, we can:
My name is Haihao, pronounced like “Hi, how (are you)”! After growing up in equal parts mainland China, the US, and Hong Kong, I graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Rice in 2018 with dual degrees, a BS in Materials Science and NanoEngineering and a BA in Mathematics. I have performed physics research all over the world, and worked from 2019 to 2022 as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow and PhD Candidate at MIT, researching machine learning for making new materials, (L)LMs (before they were “large”), and embedding domain knowledge deep into ML models and architectures. I have also worked/volunteered as a teacher with various organizations, and I am passionate about education equity. I pursued a Master of Education in Learning Design, Innovation, and Technology at Harvard (currently on leave for personal reasons). More recently I have been getting involved with AI safety and responsible tech, see my LinkedIn featured posts on related topics. My startup Ternity Education aims to combine the bleeding edge of AI (based in part on my research at both MIT and Harvard) with our modern understanding of neuroscience and learning sciences, to ultimately transform how students learn in this century and beyond!
