Mr Donald Choi works globally as architect and developer for over three decades and is familiar with both public and private projects. He has worked in North America, Asia and China, including Hong Kong listed companies, with vast in-depth knowledge in the real estate development and investment industry. He believes in the power of design and architecture to empower society. Clients have included Hong Kong Government, Airport Authority, Mass Transit Railway Corporation, Urban Renewal Authority, Public Works Canada, British Columbia Buildings Corporation, NGOs and the private sector. Currently, he is the Chief Executive Officer of Chinachem Group. Before, he was the Managing Director of Nan Fung Group, Director of Foster and Partners, and the Authorized Person (Architect) for the Hong Kong International Airport Passenger Terminal (HKIA Silver Medal Winner) and many infrastructure projects at Chek Lap Kok. The airport was awarded the Top Ten Construction Projects in the World and has won numerous awards including the Best Airport in the World since opening in 1998.
Mr Choi is active in community services. He is a Global Trustee of the Urban Land Institute, the Vice President (Local Affairs) of the Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design, Chief Curator for the Hong Kong Exhibition at the 17th Venice Biennale 2020, and Honorary Advisor of the Hong Kong Workers’ Health Centre. He is also a Trustee of Rhode Island School of Design, Board Member of Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, Building Committee Member of the Chinese University HK Medical Centre, Board Member of Hong Kong Green Building Council, and the Board Chairperson of Construction Innovation and Technology Application Centre. He had taught at the University of Hong Kong and was the former Chairman of the Architects Registration Board, HKSAR. He also served as a Board Member of the Board of Review (Inland Revenue Ordinance), Appeal Tribunal (Building Ordinance), the Pneumoconiosis Compensation Fund Board, Construction Industry Training Board and other governmental statutory bodies.
All volunteer hours must be completed during 15 January 2020 to 25 June 2020.
Cost per person is HK$150 (Full-time students aged 25 or below)/ HK$250 (General Participants) to support the running costs of our charity and our mission to make volunteerism mainstream.
Dinner will be held at L’hotel Nina et Convention Centre in Tsuen Wan on 2 July 2020 at 7:15pm to 9:30pm.
