Joe Ngai is a Director and the Managing Partner of McKinsey’s Hong Kong office. He also leads McKinsey’s Financial Institutions practice in Greater China. He has led many large-scale transformation efforts for local as well as multi-national financial institutions, as well as local Hong Kong conglomerates. He has advised on various topics including strategy, operations transformation, mergers & acquisitions, organisation transformation, etc. He is the co-author of two editions of “Life Insurance in Asia” (2008 and 2012), a leading publication in its field. He speaks frequently on financial, management and social enterprise topics. He is passionate about community service. He is the Chairman of DiamondCab, an award-winning social enterprise focusing on barrier-free taxi services, Director of Social Ventures Hong Kong, Deputy Convener of 30SGroup, Director of Diocesan Boys’ School Foundation and President of Harvard Business School Association of Hong Kong.
He has been appointed to various Government advisory committees, including the Financial Services Development Council, the Antiquities Advisory Board, the Advisory Committee to the Revitalization of Historic Buildings and the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme. A Hong Kong native, Mr Ngai received his AB in economics from Harvard University as well as his JD and MBA from Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School.
