Alan co-founded The Armoury, an honest retailer sharing a view on how classic gentlemen should present themselves
About
Alan See, co-founder of The Armoury (www.thearmoury.com), is one of the best-dressed men in Hong Kong. Started with two co-founders who share a passion for classic menswear in 2010, The Armoury has grown into a brand with a covetable lifestyle and devoted fans around the world.
In a city that’s known for big luxury labels, The Armoury has not only successful created its league in Hong Kong, but also established itself on the international menswear map, opening their third store in New York City this year.
The Armoury is the founders’ response to today’s trend of insubstantial products masked by expensive advertising. They strive to find companies, factories, workshops and craftsmen dedicated to their product and craft.
Having worked closely with the apparel industry throughout his career, Alan has come to understand more about the origins and process in which most garments are produced today. His personal interest in men’s clothing led him to seek even more knowledge through the tailors and artisans during his travels. It was also this interest that chanced a meeting with Mark, which led to the creation of The Armoury several years later.
Other than his finds of great quality and people of timeless style, Alan plans to share something he considers the key differentiator behind the brands at the Armoury – the passion and soul behind the brand as well as the unique stories of the artisans. They represent and help many respectable, small artisans and makers that are normally hidden in small alleys and behind thick walls.
Set up in October 2010, The Armoury is an interesting smaller take on Menswear, acting as a hub and center for tailors, shoemakers and artisans of the like in Hong Kong and New York.
The Armoury also has a big following on social media, you could check out the brand and Alan’s online presence at www.thearmoury.tumblr.com and www.instagram.com/seealan.
