Christine Ma-Lau is the Founder and Principal of JEMS Learning House, a leading educational institution that provides Character Education to children up to the age of twelve. She created the school out of her passion for educating young people in character and values, believing that, as Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education”. She is also the Founder and Chairperson of Character Education Foundation, the organisation that leads the annual citywide Character Day campaign that invites schools, organisations and companies to take part in celebrating and developing character strengths. Christine is an Adjunct Professor at The Education University of Hong Kong and is also an Advisor to the Centre for Religious and Spiritual Education at the institution. Christine holds a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration on child development and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Philosophy from the London School of Economics.
As an expert in Character Education, Christine is a sought-after speaker for a range of audiences. In addition to hosting talks and workshops for students, she has also led parenting talks on a range of topics and hosted teacher and social worker training sessions. She has spoken at The University of Hong Kong, The Education University of Hong Kong, St. Paul’s Co-Educational College, St. Stephen’s College and International Christian School, to name a few. Her passion for educating children goes beyond her work at JEMS. Christine also served as a Director at Plan International Hong Kong, which promotes education to underprivileged children globally and is also their ambassador for their Because I Am A Girl campaign. She is also a Board Director of Sow Asia and a Founding Director of GeneroCity, both Hong Kong-based philanthropy funds that helps the underprivileged in the city.
All volunteer hours must be completed during 1 May 2017 to 1 October 2017.
Event will be held on 14 October 2017.
Cost per person is HK$150 to cover running cost of the program.
