Irene is an Architect by profession & an active member in Hong Kong's Architectural field and Construction Industry. Having graduated from the University of Hong Kong in early 1980's, Irene joined the Housing Department and has over thirty years of experiences. She is currently the Assistant Director of Housing (Development & Procurement) and supervises a workforce of around 500 staff and oversee all facets of public housing development work in Hong Kong. In her career as Assistant Director of Housing, she supervises the Development & Procurement Sub-division of the Housing Department, overseeing all facets of public housing development work in Hong Kong. Her duties cover a wide spectrum of activities and beyond the role of an Architect. It covers project management, planning, design and contract management, as well as establishing operational policies on procurement, design standards, construction, specifications, quality, performance assessment of contractors and consultants, dispute resolution, research and development, safety, environment and workers’ wage monitoring system. She also promotes partnering, value management, risk management, ethical integrity, site safety, corporate social responsibility, sustainable development, community engagement, green building and Building Information Modeling and product certification in the industry.
