Meet Dr Lucy Lord, Founder & Executive Chairman of Mind HK
Meet Lucy, Founder of Mind HK & City Mental Health Alliance. Founding partner of Central Health Medical Group. Champion of awareness for mental health and medical care for vulnerable people in Hong Kong.
Dr. Lucy Lord is an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and a founding Partner of Central Health Medical Group. She has lived in Hong Kong for the past 30 years. Together with the partners and doctors at Central Health she set up the Patient Care Foundation (PCF), Central Health’s charitable foundation which works to improve access to medical care for vulnerable people within Hong Kong and on other patient advocacy projects.
Lucy has always been concerned with ensuring patients get holistic care and very early on she insisted that psychiatrist and psychologists were included in the multidisciplinary team.
What became apparent however that even with Central Health’s contacts, expertise and patients who were very well insured / have access to funds it was still extremely difficult to provide the same standards of mental health support as that in London, Sydney or New York.
Central Health’s partners, doctors and nurses set up the Patient Care Foundation (PCF), Central Health’s charitable foundation which works to provide the vulnerable, stigmatised or deprived groups and communities within Hong Kong with better access to the medical care they need. To help realise this goal in 2016, Dr. Lord founded Mind HK, a not for profit which works to improve access to mental health support through its training programmes, campaigns, and bilingual mental health information. Its website resources, youth programmes and information exchanges support frontline mental health charities as well as individuals and their families coping with mental health challenges.
Dr. Lord was instrumental in founding of the City Mental Health Alliance in Hong Kong, which was launched at the same time as Mind HK to address the same issues but in the corporate and financial communities.
