Meet Ren Yi, Co-founder of myBurgerlab, a F&B chain which is out to make the world a happier place, one burger at a time!

About

Ren Yi, a mechanical engineering graduate from Nottingham university, discovered the joy of serving others many years ago while he was working at Starbucks. Not thinking much of it, he embarked on a work and travel program to the United States during his university days. It was there and then, that he discovered In-N-Out Burger, inspiring him to bring awesome burgers, warm service, and memorable experiences back home to Malaysia. Partnering up with his friends, Cheah Chang Ming, a fellow engineering graduate, and Teoh Wee Kiat, a Business Graduate, Ren Yi set out to create Burgers that would not only spread joy, but also help do some good in the community.

When they first began testing out their new products at The Red Beanbag (Publika), they were greeted with disappointment and a very obvious lack of enthusiasm for their burgers. However, being more inclined to the sciences because of their educational background, they employed the scientific method to their food, and by the next few testing sessions, they were receiving compliments and enquiries on when these burgers would be available to the public. And finally, July 2012 came, and myBurgerLab opened its doors to the public at Seapark, Petaling Jaya. Fast forward slightly over 7 years, and myBurgerLab Burgers are available at 6 locations across the Selangor & Kuala Lumpur, as well as spawned a spin-off Pizza joint, myPizzaLab, right next to myBurgerLab Seapark. Other projects, such as myTacoLab and BanhMi + Kopi are also in its early stages, so you can keep an eye out for those at selected Pop-ups and events!
