Meet Erwin. Former CEO of Tse Sui Luen. Serial Social Entrepreneur who leads Social Career, Senior Citizen Home Safety Association, WebOrganic, DreamStarter and many more!
Professor Huang is a serial entrepreneur and a leader in a social enterprise, the eLearning field and advisor to numerous startups more than 30 years. Currently, he is Associate Professor and Senior Advisor of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, his mission is to teach Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship to university students and to let more young generations understand entrepreneurial spirit, identify social issues, as well as creating social impact through innovations.
Erwin is Co-Founder & Executive Chairman of DreamStarter, a community initiative that makes dream projects initiated by school students come true. He is also Vice Chairman of Junior Achievement Hong Kong, dedicated to inspiring and preparing young leaders to succeed in a global economy thru entrepreneurship. As an experienced entrepreneur, he has built multiple Publishing, Telecom and IT companies in Hong Kong, Tokyo, London and the Silicon Valley. He is currently Deputy Chairman and Non-executive Director of Tse Sui Luen (HKSE stock code 417). In public sector, he is elected into the Election Committee Member of HKSAR (IT subsector) (2012-2021). Erwin also sits in various Government advisory committees.
Erwin is actively engaged in social entrepreneurship with a view to bridging social needs through innovation and information technology. He is Chairman of Social Career, the company is an information technology based non-profit organization registered in Hong Kong in 2015. The company mission is to educate the general public in volunteerism and involvement in social causes and services. He is also the Founder of Agent of Change ‘ 加 油 香 港 ’, a young social enterprise aiming at provision of low-price high-quality daily necessities to grassroots.
Erwin was Founding Member & Vice Chairman of Senior Citizen Home Safety Association, UN award winning non-governmental organisation (NGO) in Asia, to provide safety bell emergency call service for elderly in the community through the use of technology, people-oriented services, and innovative methods. He was Founding CEO of WebOrganic, a social enterprise under HK Council of Social Services designed to help deprived students for digital inclusion and eLearning. He was elected as Hong Kong Spirit Ambassador in 2013, to convey positive messages to the younger generations by sharing his inspiring stories and experiences.
He is an active influencer in social media, having served the youth community since the early 90’s; he is author of 4 books on Internet and Education for the youth, and also the Weekly Columnist in Hong Kong Economic Times and Hong Kong Economic Journal starting from Year 2015. He has hosted a daily TV series as "Dr Wong" (PChandbook, ATV) in 1995, Radio show in Metro Radio in 1998-1999, championing a digital lifestyle. Joined the RTHK TV program ‘Rich Mate Poor Mate’ series 1 in 2009, Erwin gained the new insights of poverty and created a range of projects to help the poor after participating in a reality TV show. He was the guest host of “money café” in iCable TV from Year 2015 to Year 2017. He was the host of the radio show “Life Hacker” from Year 2014 to 2015 & “Morning Suite 晨 光 大 學 ” from Year 2015 to Year 2019 in RTHK radio 2.
He holds double degrees of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration; Business Administration and Management from Boston University, USA and has studied as a Senior Executive in Boston's Harvard Business School and Beijing's Tsing Hua University.
All volunteer hours must be completed during 1 September 2019 to 6 February 2020.
Cost per person is HK$150 (Full-time students aged 25 or below)/ HK$250 (General Participants) to support the running costs of our charity and our mission to make volunteerism mainstream.
Dinner will be held at azalvo in Causeway Bay on 13 February 2020 at 7:15pm to 9:30pm.
