Meet June Leung, Founder and Chairperson of Beacon Group
This experience has ended. It collected 92 volunteer hours.
Meet June Leung, the tutorial queen who co-founded and grew Beacon College to be one of the biggest tutorial schools in HK.
June Leung has obtained her B.A. degree in Translation at the University of Hong Kong, and is the founder and chairperson of Beacon Group, a member of BEXCELLENT Group Holdings Limited (Stock code: 1775). Beacon Group has become one of the largest private education institutions in Hong Kong. In 2015, the Group had the honour to become an object of study by Harvard Business School, which aimed to explore the factors contributing to its success. The results of the study were released in an article entitled 'Beacon Group of Hong Kong: Finding Light in the Shadow Education Industry'.
With her 25-year experience of teaching English as a foreign language, Miss Leung has authored different academic publications such as 'Speedy Mastery of Academic Vocabulary' and 'Slang 111'. She has shared her ups and downs as a tutorial queen in other best-selling books as well.
Her devotion to raising and maintaining the standard of passionate practitioners in the private tutorial sector at a professional level has led her to become a guest speaker in various public seminars, including the 'China Education Symposium 2015 Annual Conference' organised by Harvard University. In the past two decades, she has been working hard to strive for the recognition of the educational field and the general public for the contribution of the tutorial industry to Hong Kong.
Miss Leung withdrew herself from her teaching capacity and focused on management in 2012, when the whole education sector was gearing up for the educational reform in the same year. She devotes herself to administrative work so as to prepare Beacon better for a more promising future.
