Mr. Francis Ngai is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Social Ventures Hong Kong (SVhk), a venture philanthropic organization focused on inventing, incubating and investing in social start-ups that address urban challenges through sustainable and innovative business solutions.
Since its establishment in 2007, SVhk has incubated over 20 portfolio ventures, among which, Mr. Ngai co-founded Green Monday (an environmental and green lifestyle initiative), Playtao Education (an afterschool education for grassroots students) and RunOurCity (community engagement through running). Other successful portfolio ventures include Diamond Cab (Hong Kong’s first barrier-free taxi service), Light Be (an affordable housing initiative for underprivileged families in Hong Kong) and CookConnect (a food knowledge and resources platform).
Through incubation and investments into these portfolio ventures, SVhk has developed close partnerships with many global corporations, such as UBS, Credit Suisse, J.P. Morgan, CVC Capital Partners, McKinsey & Company and Global Payments.
Mr. Ngai is a Board Member of the Asia Venture Philanthropy Network. He regularly participates in regional and global events as a speaker on social entrepreneurship and social innovation, including events organized by the Rockefeller Foundation, TEDx, UBS, USAID and Harvard University.
Prior to establishing SVhk, Mr. Ngai was the Head of Strategy in a listed technology conglomerate in Hong Kong. He graduated from the City University of Hong Kong and was conferred as an Honorary Fellow by the University in 2013. He was selected as one of the 100 Asia Pioneers by The Purpose Economy in 2014, a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum in 2012 and one of Hong Kong’s Ten Outstanding Young Persons in 2011.
As an ultra-running veteran, Mr. Ngai completed The North Pole Marathon in 2013 and the 250-km Gobi March of the 4 Deserts race series in 2012.View more
