About

ABOUT YORK CHOW Dr. York Chow is an orthopaedic surgeon graduated from HKU. Dr. Chow served as the Secretary for Health, Welfare and Food from 2004 to 2007, and the Secretary for Food and Health from 2007 to 2012. He introduced new anti-tobacco law and policies, healthcare service and manpower reform, food safety law and regulations, marine conservation ordinance, and handled multiple public health and food safety crises. Dr. Chow served as the Chairperson of Equal Opportunities Commission from April 2013 to March 2016. He joined the AIA Hong Kong and Macau Ltd as the Chief Medical Officer and Corporate Advisor starting January 2017. Dr. Chow was a sportsman since his youth, and represented Hong Kong in Badminton. Currently he was appointed International Ambassador for Squash, and aiming to get the sport into the Olympic Games. He also served in the Hong Kong Paralympic Committee and the Sports Association for the Physically Disabled since 1981. He was elected as an Executive Committee member of the International Paralympic Committee from 1989 to 2005, and as its Vice-President from 1997 to 2005. Dr. Chow was awarded the Paralympic Order by the International Paralympic Committee, and a member of the Paralympic Family in 2005. Dr. Chow was awarded MBE by the British Government in 1995, a Silver Bauhinia Star in 2001, and a Gold Bauhinia Star by the Hong Kong SAR Government in 2009. --- ABOUT JOHN TSANG Born and raised in Hong Kong, John emigrated to the United States when he was a Form II student at La Salle College. He continued his education at Stuyvesant High School in New York City. Upon graduation, he studied architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He went on to complete master degrees in Bilingual Education at Boston State College and in Public Administration at the Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University. He worked in the Boston Public Schools as a teacher and in curriculum development. John returned to work as an Administrative Officer in the Hong Kong Government in 1982. He took up a number of posts relating to commerce and finance. After reunification, he was appointed as Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Secretary for Planning and Lands, Secretary for Commerce, Innovation and Technology, Director of the Chief Executive’s Office and in 2007, Financial Secretary where he served until 2017. He ran for the post of Chief Executive and lost. John is married with two grown children and three young grand-children.

Cost per person is HK$100 to support the running costs of our charity and our mission to make volunteerism mainstream.
