How Time Auction works

2. Bid

Bid your Karma Points to meet inspiring people, such as humanitarians, entrepreneurs, athletes, or artists. Most auctions allow every bidder to win if the goal is reached.

Meet Daryl from the property conglomerate Sino Group, and the brain behind the conversion of the Old Tai O Police Station into award-winning Tai O Heritage Hotel in partnership with the Government.

Description

Mr Daryl Ng Win-kong, JP, is Deputy Chairman of Sino Group, one of the leading property developers in Hong Kong. Over the years, the Group has developed more than 220 projects in Hong Kong, China and Singapore, spanning a total attributable plot ratio area of over 84.6 million sq ft.

Mr Ng is a steadfast advocate of good causes for the betterment of the community. He actively participates in community services, green initiatives, heritage conservation, as well as arts and cultural events to build a better community.

In 2008, the Ng Family, major shareholder of Sino Group, set up the Heritage Conservation Foundation (HCF) to revitalise and maintain heritage buildings, and promote the conservation and appreciation of heritage and historical places. Tai O Heritage Hotel, converted from the Old Tai O Police Station, a Grade II historic building, through Batch I of the Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme of the Development Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR, was opened in March 2012.

Since opening, the hotel has welcomed more than one million visitors from Hong Kong and around the world, and has received over 30 international and local accolades in recognition of its devotion to heritage conservation and engagement of the community. Notable examples include the Award of Merit at the 2013 Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation organised by the UNESCO, Citation Award by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Hong Kong Chapter in 2014 and the 2015 Sustainable Hotel Award – Sustainable Destinations, and in October 2016, the Hotel was voted as Asia’s leading heritage hotel by World Travel Awards 2016. In May 2017, the Hotel received four awards at the International Hotels Awards 2017, namely ‘Hong Kong’s Best Small Hotel 2017’, ‘Hong Kong Best Classic Heritage Hotel 2017’, ‘International Five Stars Standard 2017’ and is the regional winner of the ‘Asia Pacific’s Best Small Hotel 2017’. Tai O Heritage Hotel also garnered three titles at the 2017 World Luxury Hotel Awards in December 2017, including Country Winner in Luxury Historical Hotel, Country Winner in Luxury Heritage Hotel and Regional Winner for East Asia in Luxury Cultural Retreat. Most notably, Tai O Heritage Hotel was the sole Hong Kong-based hotel to be named as the Regional Winner for East Asia in Luxury Cultural Retreat.

Mr Ng holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and a Master Degree of Science in Real Estate Development from Columbia University in New York, and an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Savannah College of Art and Design. He is also an Honorary Fellow of the Open University of Hong Kong.
