As Managing Director at Barclays (www.barclays.com), Samson has witnessed first-hand the bull and bear markets in Asia since the 1990s. As Head of Investor Solutions (Asia ex-Japan) and Head of Institutional Sales (Hong Kong & Taiwan), Samson has an admirable reputation as a manager with one of the lowest turnover rate in his team. Samson is a big supporter for charitable causes. He regularly gives back to the community and mentors underprivileged students through ARCH Community Outreach, an educational non-profit organization. Samson Yip is a Managing Director, Head of Investor Solution for Asia ex-Japan and Head of Institutional Sales for Hong Kong and Taiwan at Barclays. He is also responsible for the Distribution teams in Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Philippines. Managing both institutional and retail business with financial institutions, Mr. Yip oversees multi-product sales teams covering fixed income (rates, credit, securitised and structured products), emerging markets, equity and fund derivatives, commodity derivatives and hybrid products. Prior to joining Barclays in 2003, Mr. Yip worked in Citigroup’s Global Markets team where he was responsible for marketing fixed income products to institutional investors in Hong Kong. Previously, he managed HSBC’s fixed income portfolio in Hong Kong. Mr. Yip started his career as an interest rate trader in the 1990s. Mr. Yip was born in Hong Kong and spent some years in Taiwan during his childhood. He received a bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Economics from the University of Hong Kong.
