Meet Allison Baum, Managing Director at Fresco Capital Advisors and former Regional Director at General Assembly
From investment banking in New York to the startup scene in Hong Kong, Allison has always followed her passion in her career and boldly ventured outside of her comfort zone.
Since graduating from Harvard University, Allison spent 3 years working at Goldman Sachs in New York as an Equity Derivative Sales. In 2012, she quit her job as she felt that she could do something extraordinary for society. Allison then joined General Assembly (www.generalassemb.ly/) as a Regional Director in Asia, where she single-handedly developed GA to what is now a prominent education center in the Hong Kong technology scene.
In early 2014, Allison has joined Fresco Capital Advisors (www.frescoca.com) as Managing Director, involving in all aspects of a seed and early stage investment fund based in Hong Kong with a global perspective.
Allison Baum is a Managing Director of Fresco Capital Advisors and is involved in all aspects of investment and operations. Previously, as Regional Director of Asia at General Assembly, she established and grew the company’s first education programs for technology, business, and design in Hong Kong. She originally joined the company in its early stages in New York where she developed and scaled their first long-form and immersive courses. Throughout this process, Allison has worked with startups of all sizes across the New York and Hong Kong communities.
After earning a B.A. in Economics and a Secondary Degree in Film Studies from Harvard University, Allison worked in Equity Derivatives Sales & Trading at Goldman Sachs in New York and as an Associate Producer for the Microlending Film Project, a documentary about micro finance for women around the world. She continues to contribute to the cause for female empowerment through an education initiative called Arts and Enterprise for Women, which teaches business skills to refugee and asylum seekers in Hong Kong.
A random fun fact about Allison - her great great grandfather Frank Baum wrote "The Wizard of Oz"!
All volunteer hours must be completed during April to August 2014.
