Project Details

What we need
  • Joining a briefing session approximately a week before the event
  • The ability to understand Cantonese and prepare bilingual visual notes
  • We will provide you with the recording of the launch event, and you may be invited to create visual notes of subsequent experiential workshops in October (depending on your availability)
Background

No action is too small when it comes to changing the world. Every Action Matters is a project developed by Resolve with the aim of empowering everyone in our community to take inclusive action in their everyday lives. With the participation of Resolve’s community of fellows, the Every Action Matters campaign will include the release of a Hong Kong first-ever bilingual Equality Toolkit on how to be an ally and active bystander in the areas of race, gender and disability (supported by The Equal Opportunities Commission) and a series of experiential virtual workshops. Our launch event will explore how our identities shape who we are, how we can leverage our privilege for good and some simple steps we can take to be an ally when it comes to race, gender, and disability.

What we have

The online launch event will be produced in a physical setting with all speakers and volunteers joining in-person. You will listen to stories of the Resolve Community and social justice leaders who have committed to diversity and inclusion work. You will learn more about allyship during the event and interact with our speakers during an after-party on the same day.

Why this is important

This volunteer will help us curate a concise and visually appealing summary for our launch event. A summary of our launch event will help attendees consolidate their takeaways and identify action points to make Hong Kong a more inclusive city through everyday action. Apart from educating the public on recognizing their identities and privilege, the launch event will also help strengthen the sense of community among our stakeholders and build solidarity to promote social justice and inclusion in Hong Kong. This role can be done both on-site and remotely (in which we will send you a recording of the launch event). As our Every Action Matters campaign consists of several online events, the volunteer may be invited to create visual notes of subsequent experiential workshops in October (12, 18, and 21 Oct) depending on their availability.

What we do

Our Mission: We exist to inspire, empower and connect emerging leaders to bring about inclusive social change. Our Vision: We believe in a Hong Kong where everyone is heard and can take everyday action for their community. Our Values: Rights, Equality, Solidarity, Organization, Leadership, Voice and Empowerment. Our Community: Our people and partners come from diverse sectors and backgrounds. We are stronger together. Our Organization: In May 2017, Resolve was founded with one question in mind: in an age of increasing polarization and intolerance, how can we build more inclusive and accepting societies? We believe the answer rests with communities themselves, harnessing their own power to bring about positive social change.
