Background

Alongside is a social enterprise dedicated to promoting autonomy, dignity, and inclusion in end-of-life planning. This year, we are proud to be one of the feature exhibitors at the S+ Summit cum Expo, organized by HKCSS, where we will present an immersive experience booth designed to engage the public in meaningful conversations about life, death, and care choices. Our 3-zone booth features a VR simulation, a coffin reflection experience, and a consultation zone, allowing visitors to reflect on critical life decisions in a safe and thought-provoking environment. Through this showcase, we aim to raise awareness about end-of-life planning and reach diverse communities with accessible, inclusive services.

What we have

- Pre-event briefing: All volunteers will be invited to an orientation session (online or in-person) to walk through booth flow, responsibilities, and visitor interaction tips.- Booth guides & scripts: Printed materials with key messages, FAQs, and experience zone guidelines will be provided for easy reference.- Team support: Our core team members will be onsite at all times to provide direction, backup, and assistance.- Refreshments & breaks: Light refreshments and short breaks will be arranged throughout the day.

Why this is important

This immersive showcase at the S+ Summit cum Expo is a key initiative for Alongside to raise public awareness on the importance of end-of-life planning in a society where such conversations are often avoided or stigmatised.By engaging the public through first-person simulations, meaningful dialogue, and accessible consultation, this project helps us: • Promote the values of 終生自主(lifelong autonomy), dignity, and inclusion; • Build empathy across diverse audiences, including caregivers, professionals, and families; • Reach underserved communities who may otherwise lack access to quality end-of-life planning resources; • Foster partnerships and public trust in Alongside as a leading force in compassionate, community-based death education.Through this effort, we move closer to our vision of a society where everyone, regardless of background, has the right and opportunity to plan for death with clarity, respect, and support.
