I am Haylie Wong, a second-year Optometry student at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. I am passionate about making a positive impact in my community. I am committed to various leadership roles and volunteering since secondary school. From leading school projects to organizing community events, I have developed strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills. As a committee member of the School of Optometry Student Association at PolyU, I have gained experiences in organizing events, which I understand the importance of working in coordination between different parties. I have experiences working as patient concierge at Invisalign and optometry trainee internship at Carl Zeiss Vision Care. These experiences required me to explain product features and benefits to customers in a clear manner, therefore they have provided me with practical skills in communication and attention to detail. My volunteer experiences such as assisting mentally handicapped children and providing academic support to underprivileged primary school students have acquired me with good communication skills and developed a sense of empathy. I also learnt to deliver exceptional care to individuals. I am hoping to further develop my leadership skills, expand my network, and contribute to the organization's meaningful work through volunteering.
