More about the tour
Man Mo Temple, a declared monument and filming location of Andy Lau’s movie “Lee Rock” (五億神探雷洛傳) is laced with intriguing stories locals walk past every day being oblivious to – do you know how “god bribing” works? Where did the saying “middle door is wide open” come from? Why is there a random deer in the courtyard?!
Sai Wan Swimming Shed (西環泳棚), a minimalist scaffolding where people in the 50’s and 60’s used to pay to swim in the sea…. Today, it is one of the hottest-ranked photo spots on social media platforms like XiaoHongShu. En route, drop by Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park, the colorful cargo containers at the loading peer close by have long attracted shutterbugs from casual Instagrammers to professional wedding photographers.
From Bruce Lee, and James Bond to Alicia Vikander’s Tomb Raider, the Sampan (literally “3 boards”) boat has been featured as an integral part of Hong Kong’s image in international media pop culture throughout the years. But few locals have experienced a ride firsthand, which is a shame.
On the way back, unwind with a relaxing dim sum lunch in Wanchai (included, no separate charge).
They'll change your mind if you think old things can’t be cool.
